Charles, Mason, and Stones
Mason picks up a stone.
"Look, it's really not as complicated as I'm making it sound," Charlie says. "You just have to know the math -"
Mason throws the stone at Charlie. It hits him in the shoulder. Charlie yelps in surprise, then glares at Mason in anger.
"What was that for?" He asks.
"I wanted to see your reaction." Mason replies, before picking up another stone and tossing it at Charlie.
"Cut that out!" Charlie says, raising his hands to defend himself. Mason ignores him and throws another rock, then another, then another.
"Will you cut - that - out!" Charlie yells back at him. After unsuccessfully defending himself against several
Theres a song in my heart.
I havent sung it recently; the lyrics have left my memory, and Ive forgotten most of the tune.
But its there. Deep inside, waiting to be sung. Waiting for a time when once again I remember how it is sung.
It waits patiently. It and I know that it will be sung eventually. It may take time for me to relearn the rhythm, to memorise the melody... but, eventually, it will return.
There is a song in my heart. It waits, and so do I.

Michael was standing on the roof. It had been his place of refuge for many years, his hiding place from the world around him. He'd often come up here for hours on end, watching the clouds go by and trying to find things he recognised in them. Rain had never stopped him - in fact, his parents had almost taken him out of the school over that. They'd thought he'd been forced out against his will, that the people running the place weren't being considerate.
Michael was standing on the roof of the school, reflecting back on the years he'd spent there. Five of them, in reality, and far too many. He wouldn't be glad to see the back of it... But his
"Captain, what's our status?"
There was silence on the comms for a long moment. Jake waited patiently, and took a brief look around his Interceptor. It was, supposedly, the latest and greatest of combat-ready ships, but something told him that the added agility came at the cost of lowered armour. Still, he didn't worry too much about that; he'd always believed that the man with agility outfights the man with strength.
He checked the comms again, though he knew that it took a while for the transmission to reach the base. Looking through the cockpit windows and over to his right, he saw his best friend Peter Wilson - Interceptor twitching sl
Captain on deck!
The Captain walked onto the bridge with a slow determination in his step. Paying no attention to the officer on his right, who looked ready to faint in pure terror at any moment, he walked slowly past the consoles, the people, and looked through the view-screen in front of him. Eyeing the planet he saw, white clouds swirling around blue seas, he turned to his second-in-command.
At ease. Salutes were dropped, positions softened, and people returned to their work. Commander, He said, regarding the officer with a respect earned from years of service, We are sure that this is our destin
I remember the world how it was before all this. There was a time, not so long ago, when the Earth was on the very edge. Everything was going to hell, global warming was threatening to wipe out Humanity - shoot, Humans were threatening to do that themselves.
The short version is that Humans had failed. Money and power had driven all sense of reason from our minds, and we began to exploit each other far more than had ever been thought possible. Whole countries were taken into slavery, and borders were made into physical walls of concrete and barbed wire. Prison overcrowding grew to the point where capital punishment was reinstated worldwide,

Fate - 1 - Tale's Beginning
It was a Tuesday morning, if I remember right. The sun was shining, there were only a few clouds in the sky, and if I hadn't known better I would have thought that Disney himself had written the birdsong. Fortunately, I knew better - but I did enjoy listening to the melodies before I got up. I sometimes made guesses at what the birds were trying to say to each other, though I knew it would be some time before I learned to speak Sparrow.
I remembered what it was that was important about Tuesday. Aside from the fact that it was the first Tuesday of my sixteenth year of life, it was also the first of many days in a new school, and I had been p
So now I'm back, and I'm a damn sight more Internet than when I left.
Hopefully, though, I will continue some things I left a long time ago, and turn them into more than something new.
If that even means anything.
